The Operations Manager will focus on key operational pillars: people, safety, compliance, service excellence, and maximizing efficiency and profitability. You will be responsible for leading all operational activities and ensuring alignment with both business unit (BU) goals and broader company objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3-8 years of leadership experience in operations, logistics, or a related field, with a proven track record of success in continuous improvement, cost savings, and operational efficiency.
  • Proficient in continuous improvement methodologies and quality management.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Word and Excel for reporting purposes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.

Our focus is delivering quality and safety-focused medical waste management services that reduce needlestick injuries, positively impact infection control and reduce environmental burden. As a service to our customers we dispose and treat medical waste on site at our treatment facilities across Canada.

Responsibilities:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee and optimize the workflow across all departments on site to ensure cost and time efficiencies.
  • Implement and manage proactive and reactive safety measures, continuously improving safety performance to meet business unit KPIs.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, staying ahead of industry standards and government regulations.
  • Foster a customer-first mindset across all teams, ensuring that customer service is exemplary and continuously improving.
  • Maintain strict quality control standards to meet operational targets.
  • Manage cost inputs to maximize operational performance and ensure value-driven operations.
  • Collaborate closely with the sales team to identify growth opportunities and enhance EBITDA performance.
  • Streamline operations using methods such as process flow mapping, time and motion studies, and other continuous improvement techniques.
  • Work with drivers, transport supervisors, and route planners to ensure efficient and cost-effective service delivery.
  • Review and analyze operating reports, coordinating with supervisors and team leads to resolve issues quickly and minimize operational downtime.
  • Oversee the development and adherence to preventative maintenance programs for the site.
  • Lead recruitment, training, and development initiatives for all operations employees, building a highly capable and motivated team.
  • Promote cross-functional collaboration between operations and other departments to foster a cohesive working environment.
  • Coordinate and facilitate internal communication forums for the operations team.
  • Investigate and resolve customer complaints efficiently, leveraging tools such as Salesforce to track and manage issues.
  • Ensure accurate recording and reporting of Lost Time Injuries (LTIs) and near-miss incidents to improve safety practices.

FINANCIAL ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • Full P&L responsibility for the business unit.
  • Approve capital expenditures and operating expenses.
  • Contribute to the annual budgeting process, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
