JOB SUMMARY:

The Operations Manager performs a critical oversight function by monitoring operations throughout the team and looking for ways to increase productivity and lower costs.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Excellent organizational skills are a must, including the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • The ability to work in a quickly changing, fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to use Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Office 365.
  • Must be proactive in problem-solving and be able to take direction.
  • Must be professional with verbal and written communication.
  • Experience vetting and approving subcontractors is necessary.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Master HVAC License required
  • Degree in Construction or Project Management preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills with the ability to effectively train others.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to traverse and inspect all areas of the site in all types of weather; this may include walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
  • Exposure to characteristic construction site dangers.

Responsibilities:

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Hire and train staff.
  • Conduct performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
  • Handle discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
  • Prepare preliminary incident reports; report injuries/accidents Safety Manager for immediate processing.
  • Ensure workers obey all safety regulations; communicate safety procedures to employees; offer safety training per management requirements, customer requirements, or new-hire guidelines.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This position is responsible for the schedules, work, and approvals of the team in coordination with the other operations and project managers.
  • Determine the priorities for work to be done in the field/on CSS site.
  • Review project scopes of work with the project team. Ensure all projects are completed on time and within the scope and budget.
  • Audit shelters with enough time before project starts to know what additional materials/work needs to be done to get shelter to CSS standards and customer specifications.
  • Develop a detailed project plan to track progress and profitability.
  • Collaborate with the Estimating and Project Management departments put together detailed BOM’s and quote upcoming opportunities.
  • Have detailed pre-deployment meetings with the project Foreman. These meetings need to be accompanied by hard copies of the SOW, CDs, JHA, and any pictures you can share with the Foreman.
  • Evaluate the project’s success against its P&L when it is completed. Have a project closeout with the Project Manager to discuss each project’s successes and downfalls. Send Closeout Packages to customers as required.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation using Teams and NetSuite.
  • Work with the Project Foreman in the field to ensure quality of work is up to CSS standards.
  • Develop training procedures for current techs and new hires. Include Safety Training from the Safety Manager, such as toolbox talks, on a weekly basis.
  • Monitor field employees’ day-to-day time on each project and sign off timecards in Paylocity. Enter Per Diem notes as needed.
  • Work with the Inventory Manager to utilize in-stock materials and order additional materials if needed to be ready ahead of the project start. Look at opportunities to stock or order materials in bulk on high-volume materials.
  • Hold teams accountable for keeping all materials that return from jobs organized and in the designated location. All materials should be put away and stored in open containers and on shelves.
  • Maintain professionalism from office to field.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
