UPMC is hiring a Full-Time, Operations Manager to support the York stations.
We are seeking an individual with robust leadership abilities to become part of our exceptional Community Life Team, guiding a remarkable team of professionals. The ideal candidate should possess experience in emergency medical services, demonstrate effective communication skills, and have a passion for personal growth and inspiring others.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Colledge degree preferred in Fire or EMS Administration.
  • Haz-Mat Technician, Nims Command training and Technical Rescue certifications.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs any other duty related to Community Life Team as designated by the Director or designee.
  • Must be optimistic and enthusiastic and able to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel. Must be able to work effectively with all members of the Emergency Care Team. Any/all interactions with patients/significant others need to be courteous and respectful. Uses standards of customer satisfaction as a measure of effectiveness.
  • Attends public service functions, expositions, and other public events while on duty and acts as a representative of the organization.
  • Attends Community Life Team and other meetings as required.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality regarding patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations and ensures that employees adhere to them.
  • Monitors expenses and revenues to ensure within budget.
  • Communicates goals designed to maintain or increase productivity in the region.
  • Coordinates staffing for stand-by and/or community activities.
  • Ensures that facilities are maintained and that they meet any local, state, and federal regulations or ordinances.
  • Ensures that employee’s certifications, authorizations, and licensing are up to date.
  • Reports to the Director of Operations promptly and investigates any incidents, accidents involving company vehicles, or complaints in a division, communicating such information to the appropriate management personnel.
  • Ensures that inspections and preventative maintenance are completed for any company vehicle, equipment or facility and that vehicles are complaint with local, state, federal, and PA Department of Health regulations.
  • Oversees driver’s orientation and appropriate vehicle safety training.
  • Assists with orientation, training, and education to ensure that new employees provide excellent patient care and customer service.
  • Completes all necessary employee paperwork promptly and forwards it to Human Resources.
  • Screens and interviews applicants in accordance with established Community Life Team policies and procedures.
  • Maintains open communications with Dispatch, Supervisors, Managers and Directors.
  • Acts as a liaison to the public, external customers, and the Medical Director.
  • Investigates and resolves issues and problems quickly.
  • Ensures that any medication in inventory or on-board Community Life Team vehicles are current and that those with expired dates are promptly and properly discarded.
  • Manages inventory and ensures that employees maintain the necessary supplies in each vehicle.
  • Ensures that all vehicles are maintained to required specifications and are adequately disinfected and washed after use.
  • Approves requests for paid time off. Monitors/regulates overtime.
  • Maintains and provides payroll hours to the Administration Office each pay period.
  • Ensures that employees are following both BLS and ALS protocol, and scope of practice, the direction of the Medical Director, and Community Life Team policies and procedures.
  • Ensures that all shifts are covered with adequate, qualified personnel.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least three years of experience working in rescue and emergency medical services.
  • Current state Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic or PHRN certification and license, if applicable.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification, Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification and Pennsylvania approved certification for CPR for the Professional Rescuer and/or American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification.
  • Required continuing medical education credits as set forth by the State EMS office.
  • Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC) certification.
  • Hazardous Materials Recognition & Identification.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
