What does the Operations Manager do?
The Operations Manager is responsible for the branch’s day to day operations, overseeing multiple departments including Accounts Receivable, Order Desk, Customer Service, Shipping/Receiving, Warehouse and Inventory Control, Service, and Logistics. Reporting to the General Manager, the Operations Manager leads a team of Warehouse Leaders and Associates, Service Technicians, and Delivery Drivers, and is responsible for ensuring and improving the performance, productivity, efficiency and profitability of departmental and organizational operations through the provision of effective methods and strategies.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and lead a culture of proactivity, safety, professionalism, and positivity. When necessary, manage and keep accurate records of employee attendance and performance
  • Assume responsibility for the Branch Warehouse, especially staff evaluation and training (as it relates to Operations) which includes WHMIS, Transportation of Dangerous Goods, Order Quality and Fill Rate, Forklift operation
  • Assume responsibility for the Branch’s Field Service operation, including the supervision and mentorship of Service Technicians
  • Manage and sign off on staff payroll including, deductions, overtime, vacation, part time labour hours, etc
  • Manage and coordinate all maintenance and housekeeping of the building and repair of all company vehicles
  • Ensure that cash balancing is completed regularly and accurately, including approval of all “cash over” and “cash under” and approval of all expenses involved at the Branch level
  • Facilitate monthly staff meetings to review department and Branch performance.
  • Oversee health and safety by preparing monthly safety walks, making recommendations for H&S improvements, and accurate reporting of H&S inspections
  • Maximizing efficiencies through the coordination of deliveries, customer service and accounts receivable
  • Enforcing quality and customer service standards
  • Model the organization’s mission, vision, goals and objectives to staff and others

What do you need?

  • High School diploma or equivalent, post-secondary preferred
  • Valid Driver’s License required
  • Forklift license and experience would be an asset, but not mandatory
  • Professional leadership experience in several of the following fields: Operations Management, Health and Safety, Warehouse/Inventory management, Fleet Management, Retail Sales, Service Shop, B2B Account Management
  • Knowledge and experience in organizational effectiveness/efficiency and operations management
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to lead and motivate staff and serve customers
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Organizational and multitasking skills to handle a variety of tasks simultaneously
  • Strong computer skills are mandatory, experience with MS Office, Google Suite, Inventory Management and Payroll Administration software is preferred
