Description:
We are recruiting an exceptional Operations Manager to join our business at our Milton Keynes operations. We need someone who can build relationships with our much-valued clients and customers and who can lead and develop our site team to ensure that we continue to deliver an exceptional service.
This is a full-time role, 48 hours per week, 5 days over 7 days with a salary of up to £33,000pa depending on experience.
Unitmovements is a well-established delivery company with 20 years’ industry experience. We work predominantly with Ikea and are the only delivery service used at the site this role is based at; as such this role is critical to the continued relationship we have with Ikea.
We have sites in Avonmouth, Cardiff, Dudley, Exeter, Milton Keynes, Reading and Southampton.
You will report directly to the Area Operations Manager with a team of nearly 20 members of staff made up of drivers, porters and office staff. Your direct reports will provide day to day supervision of the wider site team, but you will lead the site team; motivating and developing them to achieve.
We need you to be a proactive and confident professional. Experience in our industry would be preferable but if you can demonstrate sufficient transferable skills and knowledge, then we would invite you to still apply.

Job Description
Qualifications: A good level of education with at least three years of within the same type of role, ideally the same sector/industry
Role Profile
You will provide strong leadership and direction for the site team, ensuring that all aspects of the operation are completed in a customer focused, secure and cost-effective way. You’ll be confident with managing and delegating appropriately to your team and be able to role model the behaviours you want to see in them. You will be the senior site contact with our clients, and you will be passionate and committed to contributing to the overall performance and success of the business.

Responsibilities
- People management responsibilities for site and delivery staff
- Responsible for staff planning and resourcing.
- Ensuring full legal compliance with both the Operator’s License, Health & Safety and Environmental legislation as a site manager.
- Work with our clients to develop and strengthen our working relationship
- Manage and develop the team to fully meet our customers’ needs and KPIs
- Effectively resolving any transport issues arising from customers, drivers or third parties to a satisfactory outcome.
- Monitor individual driver performance to ensure they comply with DVSA standards.
- Ensuring the transport fleet meet business KPIs which include: vehicle utilisation, driver’s hours and vehicles off road.
- Ensuring you promote a safety-first culture.
- Responsible for maintaining a high standard of customer service.
- Managing driver’s hours.
- Ensuring drivers complete their daily checks before leaving the site and that all vehicle defects are recorded.
- Ensure Road Transport and Distribution Compliance information and records are up to date and compliant with legislation, and internal guidelines.
- Ensure that new starters comply with both Unitmovements and IKEA’s health and safety policies.
