The School of Life Course & Population Sciences is one of six Schools that make up the Faculty of Life Sciences & Medicine at King’s College London. The School unites over 400 experts in women and children’s health, nutritional sciences, population health and the molecular genetics of human disease. Our research links the causes of common health problems to life’s landmark stages, treating life, disease and healthcare as a continuum.
About the role
We are looking for a skilled and motivated Operations Officer to join our team, to provide grant management and Personal Assistant support to two Professors within the Department of Women & Children’s Health. You’ll play an important role in organisation of the groups.
You will support research projects focused on maternal, fetal, and child health. This includes grant planning, grant management and staff recruitment. Additionally, you’ll manage two complex diaries, coordinate and support meetings, liaise with external research partners and support researchers. You’ll also be a key member of the School of Life Course & Population Sciences Professional Services team, led by the School Manager.
This role covers a wide variety of tasks that are important to working at a university so offers the opportunity for career development.
You will have a proactive approach and possess exceptional organisational, prioritisation and communication skills with the ability to use your own initiative to manage complex tasks and diary arrangements. You will be confident in working independently, as well as being a strong team player.
This is a part time maternity cover post (28 hours per week), and you will be offered a fixed term contract until 7th November 2025 or on return of the substantive postholder. 2 days per week will be worked on campus, split between Guy’s and St Thomas’.
About You
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
Essential criteria
- Educated to degree level or relevant experience
- Previous experience in an Executive Assistant or proactive supporting role
- Experience of budgetary and financial processes
- Experience of report and presentation writing
- Experience of providing project management support
- Committed to equality, diversity and inclusion, actively addressing areas of potential bias
Desirable criteria
- An understanding of grant application processes including costing and funder guidelines
