Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Operations Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day operations of our propane delivery service. This role will be responsible for supervising a team of drivers and technicians, ensuring efficient delivery and servicing, and retaining customers by maintaining high service standards. The successful candidate will combine strong leadership with a customer-focused mindset to ensure the smooth operation and growth of the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and Lead: Manage and lead a team of propane delivery drivers and service technicians, ensuring they adhere to safety, compliance, and operational procedures. Provide coaching, performance evaluations, and ongoing training to maintain a high-performing team.
  • Customer Retention: Build and maintain strong relationships with existing customers, ensuring high satisfaction and loyalty. Address customer concerns promptly and work to resolve any issues to guarantee a positive customer experience.
  • Business Growth: Identify opportunities for business growth and collaborate closely with sales and marketing teams to generate new business. Enhance profitability through cost management and logistics optimization.
  • Facility Management: Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of the company’s facilities, ensuring they are in compliance with safety regulations and operational needs. Work to ensure the facilities are organized, clean, and efficiently operated.
  • Operational Efficiency: Oversee daily delivery operations, ensuring timely and accurate propane deliveries to customers. Manage delivery schedules, optimize routes, and monitor driver performance to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure all safety protocols are followed, and that regulatory compliance requirements are met for propane handling, delivery, and transportation (e.g., TDG regulations, Employment Standards). Conduct regular safety audits and training to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor propane inventory levels, coordinate deliveries with suppliers, and ensure that stock levels are adequate for customer needs. Prevent shortages and ensure reliable service continuity.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of deliveries, customer interactions, and facility maintenance. Prepare regular reports detailing operational performance, challenges, and opportunities for improvement. Review key performance indicators to help make informed decisions to drive business performance.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in operations management, logistics, or a related field, with a preference for experience in propane or fuel delivery services.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and manage a team of drivers and support staff, providing clear direction and fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.
  • Customer Service: Strong communication skills and a commitment to customer satisfaction. Ability to resolve issues quickly and professionally.
  • Business Acumen: Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities for business growth and implement strategies to achieve goals. Ability to work collaboratively across departments to achieve business objectives.
  • Facility and Safety Knowledge: Experience managing facilities, with an understanding of safety and regulatory standards related to propane and fuel handling (TDG, TSSA, Employment Standards etc.).
  • Technical Skills: Basic computer programs (Microsoft Office, CRM systems, etc.).
  • Education: High school diploma required; a college degree or relevant certifications in business management, logistics, or a related field is preferred. Or a experience in operations leadership and professional certificates such as Commercial Driver’s License

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in the propane, fuel, or logistics industry.
  • Customer focus problem solver with good communications skills and willingness to lead and develop people.
  • Strong understanding of safety regulations and industry best practices.
  • Analytical skills with a focus on data-driven decision-making and operational improvement.
