JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Operations Manager/ General Manager, the Operations Supervisor is responsible for basic plant operations, facility and ice maintenance, scheduling, supervising, and training of staff, ordering supplies, all within established approved budgets. This is a hands-on supervisor role, actively involved in day to day facility operations.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Completed high school education or equivalent (preferred)
- Valid driver’s license
- 1 to 3 years previous experience, training and operation of ice resurfacing equipment
- Willingness and ability to work flexible hours (evenings and weekends)
- Approachable and team orientated with great communication skills
- Demonstrated strong mechanical aptitude (preferred)
- Trade or Janitorial experience is an advantage
- Organized, self-motivated and proactive

Responsibilities:
- Perform maintenance tasks in accordance with local building and fire codes
- Responsible for Ice Maintenance tasks including
- Engo Operation
- Edger operation
- Ice depth measurement
- Ice chopping/spudding
- Levelling the Ice
- Ice Painting
- Execute maintenance and repair of facility fixtures and components. Tasks may include but are not limited to minor electrical/plumbing/drywall repairs, painting, dasher board system repair, arena glass replacement, hockey / net refurbishing.
- Develop and maintain proficient computer skills in Ameresco Asset Planner
- Ensure that entrances, grounds, and parking lot are kept clean, clear and safe including:
- Property & grounds cleanup
- Grass cutting and edging
- Seasonal snow and debris removal
- Re-lamping of rinks or other fixtures
- Perform minor maintenance on facility and ice maintenance equipment including:
- Engo safety check, clean and wax
- Safe blade changes and grease machined as needed
- Change studding, tired, oil and spreader cloth as needed
- Maintain appropriate checklists, records and reports with respect to:
- Utility readings
- Engo sign out / safety check
- Washroom, dressing room and other janitorial check lists (e.g. lobby, arena)
- Maintain and monitor the ice plant regularly and take appropriate actions as necessary for safe operation, maintaining logs with readings (as required) and keeping appropriate notes on the following:
- Charge oil to compressor
- Drain Oil
- Add Brine / Glycol
- Test for minor ammonia leak
- Adjust condenser water levels
- Clean condenser nozzles
- Record any maintenance carried out
- Record ice plant temperature and pressure readings
- Maintain cleanliness and repaint as required
- Change condenser fan belts
- HVAC filter and belt change
