Position Overview
With a background in gas fitting, pipefitting or gas network construction, we are looking for you to leverage your leadership qualities to manage an effective team that reliably and safely serves its customers. You have what it takes and we want you to step up to the plate as our next Operations Supervisor, Mechanical Services.
In this role, you will supervise and provide leadership to a skilled team to meet daily operational demands and support the generation, distribution, transmission and delivery of energy to our customers safely and reliably.
It’s one thing to utilize your years of field experience, but you also possess the organizational skills and strategic foresight to allocate resources effectively and manage priorities as new projects or emergencies arise. You always put the safety of yourself and your peers first, and you know how to operate a team that demonstrates excellence in safety.
Every day, we work to foster an environment that protects the safety of our employees and gives them the resources and support they need to grow to their potential. Realize your potential, and help us rethink our energy future. In this role, you will:
Lead a unionized crew in day-to-day tasks, large capital projects and emergency situations.
Supervise safe and effective shop/field operations. In year 1, you will:
Become familiar with our specifications, procedures and standards.
Gain in-depth knowledge in Emergency Response protocols.
Provide strong day-to-day leadership and supervision to employees. In year 2, you will:
Assist in developing a robust production tracking system with the Production Manager.
Become the subject matter expert on all matters relating to Gas Meter Fabrication, Gas Network Operations and Tool Maintenance
Focus on adapting communication and document control systems continuously. What it takes:
A post-secondary or trades education background from a recognized program, plus at least five years of experience in a leadership capacity, preferably in a unionized environment involving Gas Fitting, Pipe Fitting, or Gas Network Construction
Experience in Project Management is desirable.
Knowledge of safety management, processes and procedures.
A demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and demanding work schedules.
A demonstrated ability to attend to emergencies and co-ordinate activities under stressful situations.
Our engaging workplace offers a wide range of challenging opportunities, while being safe, inclusive and diverse. We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, while supporting life-long career development. We also encourage volunteerism and nourish the need to give back to your community.
