Description:
Do you want to work in an environment where you will be responsible for the safe and effective operation of all Nuclear and Non-Nuclear Buildings and Systems? Intrigued? We are looking for an Operations Technician; in this role, you will operate facilities, systems and equipment, oversee routine preventive maintenance, and complete or assist with emergency repairs as necessary. Can you see yourself ensuring building systems are operated and properly maintained in compliance with applicable regulations and provide a safe work environment for personnel working on the Whiteshell (WL) Site? What will you be doing!
- Operating systems and equipment, overseeing routine preventive maintenance of equipment, providing site utility services, analyzing water samples and providing treatment according to established programs.
- Completing emergency or running repairs as necessary or assisting with same.
- Recognizing trouble symptoms associated with equipment failure and taking mitigating action as necessary.
- Maintaining familiarity with site operations, utilities, pump house, fire water distribution, water treatment plant, domestic water distribution, domestic sewage collection and treatment, mechanical/electrical data, and drawings.
- Ensuring Site Operations equipment or systems to be worked on by other personnel (decommissioning, maintenance, etc.) are safely de-energized and isolated in accordance with the CNL Lock Out Tag Out procedure.
- Contributing to the identification and planning of necessary maintenance work for Nuclear and Non-Nuclear Operations equipment and buildings.
- Authorizing work permits providing oversight of work conducted under the CNL Work Permit system within the Nuclear and Non- Nuclear buildings and Site Operations services and equipment.
- Ensuring work is done safely in compliance within the applicable regulations and company procedures.
- Maintaining close communication with co-workers and with the Senior Operations Technician.
- Contributing to the writing and maintaining high-quality documents and records describing building operations, maintenance and unplanned events.
- Conducting and recording the basic operating routines pertaining to equipment inspection and log entry requirements.
- Providing support as required to oversee work conducted within the Nuclear and Non-nuclear Facilities.
- Conducting pre- and post- job briefs around work permit authorization, job site walk downs and inspections, system de-energization, and isolation.
- Preparing, reviewing, and revising Operating Procedures or Instructions for non-nuclear systems and processes.
- Maintaining confidentiality in all matters.
- Other duties as assigned by your manager.
