We are seeking a Plant Operations Technician within our plant operations team located at Osceola, Arkansas facility.

The Osceola, AR facility is comprised of two air separation (ASU) plants, one hydrogen plant (PHG). Our site supports Big River Steel (Steel Mill Customer) as well as the merchant gas business. The Plant Operator is responsible for the day to day safe operation of the plants and the site’s systems/equipment along with aligning with all EH&S standards to achieve a zero (0) lost time injury record within their area of responsibility, and to perform work duties in accordance with Quality Systems Manual procedures, safety policies and site-specific requirements. In this role, you will also be responsible for monitoring the daily production of liquid oxygen, nitrogen, and argon as well as gaseous hydrogen to ensure quality, cost and production goals are met.
Required Skills / Abilities:

The operator will be responsible for but not limited to the following activities:

  • Monitor and adjust plant process conditions using various valves and operating equipment.
  • Maintain a logbook of operation activities.
  • Solving plant process upsets using various indicators and DCS trends.
  • Calibrate/Operate multiple process and pipeline analyzers.
  • Handle daily routines to include water treatment, equipment inspection, and log sheet readings.
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Maintain online training program requirements.
  • Issue safety work permits and perform lock out / tag out of various process equipment.
  • Fill trailers and support the product load line.
  • Inspect all work areas on a continuous basis for any mechanical problems, safety hazards and unusual operation conditions. Keep work and supply areas in a safe, clean and orderly condition.
  • Ensure that all plant safety procedures are followed.
  • Attend and contribute to monthly safety meetings.
  • Perform troubleshooting on equipment and make repairs if possible.
  • Assist in reviewing and updating operating procedures as required.

Minimum Hiring Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Basic computer proficiency and software knowledge, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Previous work history and/or military experience
  • Electrical, instrument or mechanical maintenance experience a plus
  • Ability to read/understand piping and instrumentation drawings a plus.
  • Experience with personal computers and/or DCS systems.
  • Desire and ability to work in a team environment.

Physical Requirements must be able to:

  • Climb ladders and steps and lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Elevated work required.
  • Work in all weather conditions.

Work Hours

  • Willing to take 24 hour on-call responsibilities on a rotating basis every other week.
