Description:
Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Ophthalmic Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be an International Medical Graduate (IMG), graduate of a Bachelor’s program in science (Bsc) or Opticianry program (license not required).
Responsibilities
- Complete preoperative and postoperative measurements, offering clear explanations to patients throughout the process.
- Review imaging maps to validate their accuracy.
- provide outstanding customer service and patient care.
- Perform preliminary patient work-up including visual acuity, lensometry, and auto-refraction
- Assist ophthalmologists with patient examinations and minor surgical procedures
- Conduct diagnostic tests such as visual field testing, and OCT imaging
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records using electronic medical records systems
- Educate patients on eye care procedures, medications, and post-operative care instructions
- Sterilize and maintain ophthalmic instruments and equipment
- Coordinate patient scheduling and assist with front desk duties as needed
Experience
- Experience in a medical office setting, preferably in ophthalmology or optometry
- Knowledge of medical terminology and familiarity with electronic medical records systems
- Proficiency with Epic software is advantageous
