Description:

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Ophthalmic Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be an International Medical Graduate (IMG), graduate of a Bachelor’s program in science (Bsc) or Opticianry program (license not required).

Responsibilities

  • Complete preoperative and postoperative measurements, offering clear explanations to patients throughout the process.
  • Review imaging maps to validate their accuracy.
  • provide outstanding customer service and patient care.
  • Perform preliminary patient work-up including visual acuity, lensometry, and auto-refraction
  • Assist ophthalmologists with patient examinations and minor surgical procedures
  • Conduct diagnostic tests such as visual field testing, and OCT imaging
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records using electronic medical records systems
  • Educate patients on eye care procedures, medications, and post-operative care instructions
  • Sterilize and maintain ophthalmic instruments and equipment
  • Coordinate patient scheduling and assist with front desk duties as needed

Experience

  • Experience in a medical office setting, preferably in ophthalmology or optometry
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and familiarity with electronic medical records systems
  • Proficiency with Epic software is advantageous
