FTE: Full Time, 1.0, 80.00 hours per pay period (2 weeks)
Shift: Days
Pay: $22.80 - $29.64 / hour. Pay is dependent on applicant’s relevant experience
Summary:Assists eye care providers in the care of patients and flow of clinical activities. Ensures proper care and usage of medical instruments.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum Required Education: High School diploma or GED.
  • Required Licensure/Certification: Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) or Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist (COMT) or National Contact Lens Examiner Certification (NCLEC) if performing as a contact lens technician. Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider.
  • Minimum Experience: 2 years sponsored on the job ophthalmic training, or ophthalmic internship.
  • BLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date. BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of hire.

Responsibilities:

  • Under the direct supervision of eye care provider, assists with performing patient care. Demonstrate proficiency in performing ophthalmic core competencies.
  • Performs basic ophthalmic testing procedures, diagnostic testing, administration of medications and tasks delegated by the eye care provider.
  • Assists with minor procedures and prescription refill process under the direction of provider.
  • Performs documentation, patient education and enters charges. Assists with the flow of patient care.
  • Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.
