In order to manage our growth, we are looking for an Optical Design Engineer for our Development & Engineering department in Nijmegen. You report directly to the group leader. You carry out projects in close collaboration with the project manager and system architect in projects of different sizes and complexity. Accelerate along with us!

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Master or PhD degree in Engineering (Physics or similar);
  • Preferably 2+ years of experience in optical design and simulations (e.g. Zemax or similar), preferably for OEM customers in the High Tech systems market
  • Having a background in mechatronics, (opto-)mechanics or machinery would be a plus;
  • Conceptual thinker with an eye for detail, creative and structured;
  • You are able to communicate with customers at a high analytical level;
  • Well-developed communication and social skills in combination with a pragmatic attitude.

Responsibilities:

  • Developing and designing high-tech optical modules and systems, intended for several markets and applications;
  • Translating multidisciplinary customer requirements into realizable concepts. Show the feasibility of these concepts at an early stage of the project in one of our optical labs. Also the final validation of the prototypes is part of your work;
  • Besides designing Optics (e.g. with ray-tracing/Zemax), you can also be involved in image and signal processing, if required;
  • Making sure you stay up-to-date on the newest developments in your area of expertise;
  • Maintaining contacts with customers, partners and suppliers to ensure you have proper understanding of the challenges of our customers and the solutions we can provide in cooperation with our partners and suppliers (in collaboration with the system architect);
  • Staying informed of the latest developments in your area of expertise;
  • Being a part of a small, multidisciplinary team, there is much room for your ideas and views. You develop your projects, but also yourself;
  • Traveling can be a part of this position. Developing a system for customers is the first part of the project. Installation, commissioning and possibly support can be asked.
