OVERVIEW

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometric Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in providing exceptional patient care and supporting the daily operations of our optometry practice. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, a passion for helping others, and a keen interest in the optical field. This position is perfect for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced environment and enjoy working with patients of all ages.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous experience in a medical office or optical setting is preferred.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology related to optometry is highly desirable.
  • Strong front desk skills, including patient care and customer service experience.
  • Experience in retail sales, particularly in an optical or healthcare environment, is a plus.
  • Knowledge of pediatrics is beneficial for assisting younger patients.
  • Proficiency in using electronic medical records systems; experience with Epic is an advantage.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a friendly demeanor.
  • Ability to multitask effectively while maintaining attention to detail.

Responsibilities:

  • Greet patients warmly and assist them with check-in and check-out processes at the front desk.
  • Conduct preliminary patient assessments, including taking medical histories and recording vital signs.
  • Assist the optometrist during eye examinations by preparing equipment and ensuring a smooth workflow.
  • Educate patients on proper contact lens care and eyewear options.
  • Maintain accurate electronic medical records (EMR) using given systems
  • Manage inventory of optical products and assist with retail sales of eyewear.
  • Schedule appointments and follow up with patients regarding their visits.
  • Ensure the office is clean, organized, and compliant with health regulations.
