About the Role
The purpose of this role is to deliver senior Optometrist services within the Ophthalmology Eye Casualty and Outpatient Department.
- Manage an allocated workload to deliver Optometric clinical services, including assessment, intervention and evaluation within an interprofessional team in accordance with established clinical & departmental protocols, policies and procedures, utilising evidence-based practice and ethical standards and under clinical practice supervision or professional guidance of more senior staff.
- Acts as a clinical reference point with the Optometry team and responds to every-day clinical demands.
- Apply increasingly independent clinical judgement to Optometric complex decision making with only occasional clinical/professional supervision.
- Deliver high-level optometry consultancy services and facilitate access to appropriate clinical management based on Ophthalmology Clinical Prioritisation Criteria as part of the Ophthalmology Outpatients Service, independently applying clinical reasoning to a complex caseload of patients from the Ophthalmology Review waitlist.
- Actively participate in professional and interprofessional team meetings including clinical case conferences and departmental meetings.
