Current Rate of Pay: Min $26.46- Max $26.92
Current Shifts: 8 hours, Days, Evenings, Weekends

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Porter Attendant performs duties related to patient care under the direction of the Nurse and/or Physician in accordance with, hospital standards, policies and procedures. Performs related activities, including portering, stocking and cleaning to assist the team in providing a safe, clean and confidential environment for patients. In collaboration with Medical Devices Reprocessing Department (MDRD), this position is also responsible for high level disinfecting of designated surgical instruments and equipment. The Porter Attendant role is a shared role between the Operating Room, PACU and Ambulatory Care.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Successful completion of MDRAO Techniques Course or an Accredited College course within the last five (5) years
  • Recent experience and demonstrated knowledge in sterilizing and high level disinfection of scopes essential
  • Demonstrated problem solving, trouble shooting and organizational skills along with the ability to make independent decisions and establish priorities
  • Ability to work independently and in a self-directed manner as well as collaboratively within a team in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment
  • Basic computer skills (used for email, incident reporting etc.)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Physically capable of maneuvering and pushing, pulling carts, stretchers and wheelchairs with patients, and assisting with patient transfers
  • Excellent hand/eye coordination skills to navigate a busy hospital environment
  • Ability to work with frequent walking, bending, lifting, gripping, reaching, pulling and pushing
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellent customer service when interacting with patients, families, colleagues and physicians
