The Oracle Database Consultant will provide technical consulting and managed services to a wide range of customers locally in Australia and New Zealand as a key member of our Database practice.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Design and build databases, schemas, stored procedures, and other database objects.
  • Set up routine database backup procedures and disaster recovery environments and procedures.
  • Perform database recoveries.
  • Assist developers and end-users with database usage, query development, and tuning.
  • Develop operating system scripts to automate backups, data transfers, monitoring, etc.
  • Support database connectivity from client applications.
  • Design and implement database security.
  • Provide direction to less senior DBA’s. Assists associate and intermediate DBAs with complex database tasks.
  • Position will involve the database portion of various projects ranging from the installation of new packaged applications to the development of custom databases for in-house developed applications. Project teams will be composed of multi-disciplinary teams including business analysts, systems analysts, programmers, and client users.
  • Competent to work at the highest level of all phases of database administration.
  • Have a good working experience in Oracle Core DBA Architecture, Backups/Recovery and Performance tuning exercise.
  • Experience in Coordinating and working with Clients to understand the business requirement and design the architecture, accordingly, resolve issues if any.
  • Must be a strong team player and able to work closely with the other technical specialists and team members;
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a complex environment;
  • Excellent interpersonal oral and written communication;

TECHNICAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience as a database administrator, with implementations, upgrades, migrations, conversions and consolidation projects with Oracle databases;
  • Strong experience with Oracle Database ranging from 10g through to 19c across UNIX/Linux and Windows platforms;
  • Strong command administering database security, data recovery, performance monitoring and tuning;
  • Design & build specific database environments to meet business requirements
  • Proficient in writing and optimizing SQL statements
  • Must have experience with Oracle Recovery Manager
  • Must have experience with Oracle Grid Infrastructure, Real Application Clusters and Automatic Storage Management
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to make quick and accurate decisions
  • Consulting experience in providing support and implementation services with the ability to build lasting positive customer relationships, takes ownership in maintaining quality of service and recommending areas of improvement

HIGHLY DESIRABLE SKILLS

  • Experience managing databases on engineered systems, such as Exadata and Oracle Database Appliance (ODA)
  • Experience with administering or migrating databases on/to OCI, AWS, Azure, Exadata Cloud at Customer or on PaaS environments
  • Experience with SSO and E-Business Suite 11i / R12
  • Develop Technical Architecture Solutions to meet client requirements
  • Be the authoritative source and lead customers through technical engagements
  • Pre-sales consultancy for a wide range of Exadata and Oracle Database customers
  • Mentoring DBA team members and providing guidance and knowledge transfer in alignment with industry best practices

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
