Responsibilities:

ROLE DESCRIPTION

UST is recruiting for an Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) SME with expertise in managing and optimizing Oracle databases. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of database architecture, performance tuning, backup and recovery, and security. Additionally, the candidate must demonstrate exceptional team management and stakeholder management skills to effectively lead database administration projects and collaborate with various stakeholders.

ROLE:

  • Administer, manage, and optimize Oracle databases to ensure high availability, performance, and security
  • Perform database installations, configurations, upgrades, and migrations
  • Conduct performance tuning and optimization of SQL queries, database instances, and schemas
  • Implement and manage backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability
  • Monitor and maintain database health using various monitoring tools and techniques
  • Develop and implement database security policies and procedures to protect sensitive data
  • Collaborate with development teams to design, implement, and support database solutions
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues, ensuring minimal downtime and data loss
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for database configurations, processes, and procedures
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to junior DBAs and cross-functional team members
  • Engage with stakeholders to gather requirements, manage expectations, and provide regular updates on database activities and project progress
  • Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing to ensure business continuity
  • Lead and participate in database-related projects, including cloud migrations, automation initiatives, and system integrations
  • Stay current with the latest database technologies, trends, and best practices

What you will bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; or equivalent practical experience
  • Extensive hands-on experience in Oracle database administration
  • Strong expertise in Oracle database architecture, performance tuning, backup and recovery, and security
  • Experience with Oracle RAC, Data Guard, ASM, and other advanced Oracle features. Proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL programming
  • Experience with database monitoring tools such as Oracle Enterprise Manager, Datadog, Nagios, etc. Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Proven experience in managing and guiding DBA teams to achieve success and improve performance
  • Strong team management and leadership skills, with the ability to mentor and develop team members
  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders and manage their expectations
  • Experience in cloud migration projects, including planning, execution, and post-migration support
  • Strong background in automation tools and practices to enhance database administration processes
