General Description
The successful candidate will provide Oracle eBS database expertise and administration to the Air Force’s Human Resources (HR) Family of Systems software development and system modernization efforts in San Antonio, TX. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding and level of expertise with various components of Oracle’s Enterprise Business System (eBS) software solution, providing database management and technical support to address system, database, and data issues that inhibit production processing; perform and direct the performance of Oracle database and overall eBS software installations and patching; provide knowledge and expertise surrounding product configuration and resulting impacts on the eBS database; and perform troubleshooting across multiple instantiations, with direct focus on the databases and products of Oracle’s eBS software solution. In addition, the candidate will provide Oracle database expertise to sustain the HR Family of System Development and Test environments. Other activities will include performing data analysis and evaluation, developing data update strategies, performing data cleansing activities, performing data extraction, and performing data refreshes. Responsibilities further include performing and troubleshooting data migration, monitoring production database performance, and recommending and executing database performance tuning.
Duties and responsibilities
The successful candidate will support the production, test, and development environments for all systems within the HR Family of Systems. This includes developing and executing PL/SQL scripts, performing data modeling and evaluating database changes based on functionality updates, recommending and performing updates to the configuration and design of multiple databases associated with the Oracle eBS, performing maintenance, and patching of Oracle databases, and providing monitoring support to ensure that the production, test, and development environments are fully available. The candidate will be responsible for the quality control and auditing of databases to ensure accurate and appropriate use of data. They will consult with and advise users on access to various databases and work directly with users to resolve data conflicts and inappropriate data usage, support developers by making changes to the Oracle eBS system in support of new feature and function development,
Specialized Knowledge
- Hands-on experience in upgrading Oracle database instances to Release 19c.
- Strong understanding of Oracle RDBMS architecture.
- Detailed understanding of relational database concepts.
- Experienced with Oracle software implementations and upgrades.
- Hands-on experience in database platform migration.
- Hands-on experience with scripting tools like Bash shell scripts, PL/SQL, and SQL.
- Experience with applying database security patches.
- Experience with automating database administration and maintenance activities.
- General understanding of the Linux operating system, security concepts, storage technologies, and networking.
- Experience with database performance tuning.
- Experience with database backup and recovery.
- Demonstrated experience in engineering performance and availability of solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative and manage problems independently.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, management information systems, Engineering, or related field.
Professional Certifications
An active CompTIA Security+ or equivalent certification is required.
Clearance
Must either have a completed and active background investigation at the Tier 1 low-risk level (formerly NACI) with a favorable adjudication or be able to pass a background investigation at the Tier 1 moderate-risk level.
Experience
3+ years as an Oracle DBA with production support experience, including Oracle 12c and 19c. In addition, experience with Oracle RAC, MySQL, Oracle PL/SQL, PostgreSQL, and Amazon RDS administration including installations and configurations is a plus.

Experience with database management of Oracle databases.

Must be able to work in a team environment with members that include personnel from other companies, Government program management and administrative personnel, and technical staff members.
