Orcharding Craftsperson
Function: Supply Chain
Contract: Permanent
Location: Our farm in Martley (Worcestershire)
Salary: £25,100 starting salary
Shift Pattern: Days only – Monday to Friday (including a 12:45 finish on Fridays!)

What are your responsibilities?

We can all agree our ciders are nothing without our apple orchards and dedicated Orcharding Teams. As an Orcharding Craftsperson our ciders start with you. You will contribute to the team by:

  • actively contributing to our zero-accident culture, applying safe systems of working, adhering to company/legal policy and procedures for health & safety, environment and hygiene.
  • Delivering orchard and crop quality targets by using all aspects of orchard husbandry including pruning, planting, and tractor driving operations.
  • Completing basic machinery and tool maintenance
  • Role model our HEINEKEN Behaviours during your interactions with neighbours and the local community.
  • Effectively using farm systems and processes.

On occasion, you may be required to work an extra or alternative day or shift in addition to your work pattern and/or varying your start and finish times. Shifts are operated 7 days a week, meaning the days of the week you are required to work will vary. Your start times may need to be flexible to meet the needs of the business and they will be specified locally.
What does it take?
To best succeed in this role you will need to be a motivated self-starter with a lean mindset and positive attitude. You will need to be committed to teamwork and have 5 GCSEs, including Mathematics and English Language (or equivalent.

While it is not essential the following are highly desirable:

  • Any agricultural experience
  • Basic maintenance skills
  • Gardening or landscaping
  • Experience driving a tractor
  • Experience using a variety of commercial farming equipment.
