Description:
The Royal Eye Infirmary at Dorset County Hospital is looking to recruit an experienced and highly motivated full time Band 5 Orthoptist to join our friendly department. Depending on experience the post has potential to be offered at band 6 level.
A diploma/degree in Orthoptics and HCPC registration is essential. The post holder will be expected to travel between the hospital site and various locations in the community to carry out peripheral clinics; therefore a car driver is preferable.
The department currently runs paediatric and ocular motility clinics. Currently, orthoptists in our department have extended roles in stroke and glaucoma services. We are also a placement site for Orthoptic students. Staff regularly participate in department audit, clinical governance and clinical teaching sessions. The post-holder will be supported by the Head Orthoptist.
The successful candidate will be expected to work in a multi-disciplinary team (orthoptists, optometrist and administrator) and play a significant role in driving forward quality and service improvement. The successful candidate will also need to demonstrate high standards in clinical care and have the ability to ensure the delivery of a high quality patient experience. Excellent organisational and communication skills, resilience, and the ability to meet the challenges and demands of a busy service are essential.
The Trust serves a population of approximately 220,000 and is situated in the historical town of Dorchester in an attractive part of Dorset, served by high quality schools and within easy reach of the beautiful costal resorts of Bournemouth and Weymouth.
As detailed in the job description and person specification which are attached. This role may also involve attending clinics in Bridport and Weymout
