Working Conditions
Work is generally performed in an office setting when preparing reports or evaluating inspections. Travel is required to conduct inspections. When conducting workplace inspections or consultations, employees in this job title are exposed to the same working conditions as those employed at the workplace. May be exposed to potential hazards which may require the following of safety precautions.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 12 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.

Responsibilities:

  • Observes experienced OSH Compliance Officers during inspections and investigations of industrial safety operations in the workplace. Conducts safety inspections under close supervision near the end of the formal training period.
  • Learns how to compile appropriate information and documentation from workplace inspections and investigations to include in the case files. Learns the required data to include in detailed reports of safety inspections.
  • Participates in training seminars and programs and keeps current on enforcement policies and regulations. Researches occupational safety and health regulations and literature.
  • Learns to operate technical testing equipment during inspections and investigations to gather evidence for the case files. Learns to interpret the results of technical equipment.
  • Attends Kentucky OSH administrative hearings and meetings
