Description:
An opportunity has arisen for permanent full time Band 3 Outpatient Administrators within the Outpatient Central Appointments Office based at Bishop House.

The post holder will be required to work within the Central Appointments Office and take responsibility for: administrating the Electronic Referral System, receiving referral letters, email referrals, and inter-Consultant referrals, maintaining out-patient appointment waiting lists, using judgement and initiative to schedule out-patient appointments in accordance with Trust waiting list targets, and handling associated telephone calls, for both QMC and City Campuses. Close liaison with Managers within the Directorates, GP surgeries, patients, hospital administrative and clinical staff will be necessary in order to provide a prompt and quality patient focused service.

The role/duties of the post are outlined above. In undertaking this role, the employee will be expected to behave at all times that is consistent with and actively supports the Trust values which are detailed below.
The successful candidate will play a crucial role in delivering a high-quality Outpatient Appointment Service and should demonstrate excellent communication skills. A good telephone manner with the ability to show initiative is essential. Experience of working in a busy NHS environment is essential along with excellent IT skills and good knowledge of hospital software, particularly Medway PAS and the Electronic Referral System. You will have the ability to accurately convey verbal and written information. You must be well motivated and reliable, with a ‘can do’ attitude.
Due to the sensitivity of the role, you will need to be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of confidentiality issues
