Description:
For over 125 years, Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens has been providing quality social services to the neighborhoods of Brooklyn and Queens and currently offers 160-plus programs and services for children, youth, adults, seniors, and those struggling with mental illness.
Older Adult Centers promote an active life for seniors. The centers aim to assist them in preserving their independence and health by offering a wide range of activities and services, such as breakfast, lunch, health screenings, social services, educational workshops, class exercises, discussion groups, games, art classes, lectures, workshops, organized outings, and special events.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Service, or related field.
- 2 years of experience working with low income families is preferred.
- Experience in running of groups and/or special events a plus
- Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds
Responsibilities:
- Receive referrals from DFTA for services, including food pantry and emergency assistance, information and referral along with case management as needed.
- Maintain and submit program report on referrals, numbers served and funds used
- Works in collaboration with staff in development of on and off-site projects and events (ongoing groups, workshops, expos, fairs, food pantry) affiliated with the Meals on Wheels locations.
- Think creatively to develop, design, and plan new curriculum, ideas, or events. Schedule events based on availability of locations, equipment, presenters and target audience
