THE OPPORTUNITY -

In partnership with the ADF and the Commonwealth, Boeing Defence Australia (BDA) provides aircraft maintenance and upgrades, component maintenance solutions, technical support, mission-critical infrastructure support and training on some of the most capable surveillance, command, control, and combat platforms in the world.
We are seeking an experienced Principal / Senior System Safety Engineer to provide engineering, sustainment and capability upgrade support for the P-8A Poseidon. This role will place you BDA’s Sustainment Operations Engineering Team, introducing the latest aircraft spiral upgrade programs and providing ongoing sustainment support for the existing fleet. A significant number of advanced capabilities and upgrades are being introduced in the coming years across the platforms, and you will be heavily involved in delivering them.

This role is based at RAAF Base Edinburgh, Adelaide.

As a Principal / Senior Safety Engineer within BDA, you will

• Support the team with Safety related tasking pertaining to Continuing Airworthiness Management (Part M) and 21J engineering activities including but not limited to:
• Develop, review and manage hazard analysis and risk assessments.
• Perform hazard log management.
• Host system safety working groups.
• Develop, review and manage Safety Case Reports
• Undertake engineering investigations.
• Support and engage in aircraft certification and modification activities.
• Liaise with Defence stakeholders to coordinate the delivery of services and artefacts to support the local introduction of new capabilities.
• Manage platform service release activities.
• Work as a senior member within the team, provide technical leadership and mentorship for the system safety team.
• Work towards gaining Engineering Delegations.

To be considered for the role you will:

• Demonstrate a deep understanding of the system safety engineering processes.
• Demonstrate a deep understanding of MIL-STD-882E
• Hold Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, that satisfies the requirements for membership with Engineers Australia (MIEAust).

Highly desirable

• Possess experience with software applications such as 3DX, JIRA and Confluence
• Be familiar with the WHS Act 2011

• Demonstrate a deep understanding of the system safety engineering processes.
• Demonstrate a deep understanding of MIL-STD-882E
• Hold Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, that satisfies the requirements for membership with Engineers Australia (MIEAust)
