Description:

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

  • Demonstrated 7+ years of experience with a portfolio showcasing diverse packaging and print design projects and styles.
  • Proficiency in graphic design principles, including typography, colour theory, and layout composition.
  • Understanding of brand strategy and how packaging design contributes to brand identity.
  • Expertise in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign. Figma and Blender are a plus.
  • Knowledge of prototyping techniques to create physical mock-ups and samples.
  • Experience with print production processes and requirements for packaging materials.
  • Understanding of sustainable packaging principles and materials.
  • Strong creative abilities to develop original packaging and print concepts and designs.
  • Ability to research and select appropriate packaging materials based on product requirements and sustainability considerations.
  • Ability to leverage market research and customer insights to inform packaging design decisions.
  • Conceptual thinking.

Responsibilities:

THE ROLE

As the Packaging and Print Design Lead you will be part of the Global Brand Team based in our Berlin studio in Moabit. As an expert in packaging and print design with considerable experience in the field, you will maximise the creative potential and output of your team through your deep knowledge and insights into packaging and print design that can elevate all deliverables. The visually appealing designs must convey crucial product features clearly, effectively and creatively. Thus, with a good understanding of both packaging and brand development, you will contribute to the growth of our 6 brands across 18 markets.
You will report directly to the Head of Design.
You will be leading a team of designers based in both Berlin and abroad. Additionally, you will act as a bridge between the packaging and print design team and other cross-functional teams, closely collaborating with various stakeholders (Product, Marketing, Creative, Customer Insights) to ensure that the packaging and print executions effectively solve problems, convey the right messages and offer outstanding customer experiences.
You will oversee every aspect of a packaging and print design projects with both efficiency and effectiveness, and leverage the power of creativity while meeting the project’s business objectives.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Lead the packaging design and print design teams, coordinate with other departments and guide the visual aspects of a packaging and print from its concept to launch. This includes mentoring team members and day-to-day oversight of the team.
  • Develop creative and innovative packaging concepts that align with brand and stakeholders’ needs and objectives.
  • Create visually appealing packaging artwork, labels, and materials balancing both aesthetic and functional aspects.
  • Make design decisions that are driven by a deep concern for the customer and informed by other stakeholders’ feedback.
  • Create packaging and design experiences that meet user needs as well as solving a problem or offering improvements.
  • Research and choose appropriate packaging materials that meet product specifications and sustainability goals.
  • Produce prototypes and mock-ups to visualise and refine packaging designs.
  • Bring a good understanding of food safety rules that govern the products in our industry.
  • Ensure packaging designs adhere to industry regulations and standards for safety, labelling, and environmental impact.
  • Learn the attributes of HelloFresh products and work that into the designs.
  • Coordinate with Production to oversee printing and manufacturing processes, ensuring quality and consistency.
  • Manage multiple packaging and print design projects from conception to completion, adhering to timelines and budgets.
  • Present packaging and print concepts and prototypes to stakeholders, conveying design concepts and benefits effectively.
  • Contribute to cultivating a culture of creative excellence.
