About this role
As Packaging Manager, you will be key in managing people and assets to drive delivery of quality product for distribution to the consumer according to business requirements, and, in so doing, to achieve or exceed the Quality, Cost, Delivery, Safety and Morale (QCDSM) targets dictated by the business. You will also be responsible for the embedding Manufacturing excellence practices in an environment with a high number of unskilled or semi-skilled staff including temporary and casual workers.
You key accountabilities will be :-
- Meeting site production programmes, including QCDSM targets, and ensuring adherence to Diageo policy and procedures.
- Building capability within Front line manager group & throughout department.
- Ensuring alignment of situational, systemic and strategic activities through formal Level 2 and Level 3 reviews.
- Leading teams according to principles of GN Policy, Diageo Values and Manufacturing Excellence
- Providing frontline HR management of Teams including morale, discipline, grievances etc.
- Defining and implementing departmental strategy, aligned to Manufacturing Excellence, using the relevant tools to meet improvement targets.
- Defining and managing people, revenue and capital budgets for the department.
- Planning production to optimize productivity and build strategic stocks to ensure supply through peak periods.
- Production of aligned Team and individual goals & development plan and enforcing accountability.
- Local Incident Committee (LIC) and Crisis Management Committee member. Responsible for the control of all packaging related by-products.
- Liaison with the relevant stakeholders & officials to ensure legal compliance.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Degree in engineering studies or equivalent
- Seven years in a packaging or manufacturing unionized environment.
- Strong general management and coaching skills.
- Detailed knowledge of packaging processes and in touch with developments in Manufacturing Best Practice.
- Principles and application of Effective Management and Coaching.
- Detailed knowledge of: Site packaging Procedures and Work Instructions as laid down in the Quality Manual, HR policies and procedures, SHEQ policies and procedures.
- Able to apply principles of change management.
