Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop packaging solutions that meet the unique requirements of various food products, including frozen, refrigerated, and shelf-stable items.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, Production, Quality Assurance, and Marketing, to ensure packaging designs align with product specifications, regulatory requirements, and brand standards.
  • Conduct packaging material evaluations and selection processes, considering factors such as product protection, sustainability, cost-effectiveness, and consumer appeal.
  • Perform packaging performance testing and analysis to assess functionality, durability, and shelf-life extension capabilities.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes related to food packaging, and integrate relevant insights into packaging design strategies.
  • Optimize packaging processes to enhance efficiency, minimize waste, and maximize product integrity throughout the supply chain.
  • Collaborate with external vendors and suppliers to source packaging materials and equipment, negotiate contracts, and ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to internal stakeholders on packaging-related issues, troubleshooting problems as they arise.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, safety, and sustainability within the packaging department.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of packaging specifications, test results, project timelines, and budgetary considerations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Food Science, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience in food packaging development and engineering within the food industry.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks) and packaging design tools.
  • Strong understanding of packaging materials, technologies, and manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards governing food packaging (e.g., FDA, USDA, ASTM).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to collaborate cross-functionally and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Detail-oriented approach with a commitment to delivering high-quality results on time and within budget.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities as needed.
