PACKAGING TEAM LEAD

We are currently looking for Packaging Team Lead for our Brooklyn, Queens County, NS facility.
Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Director of Operations, your work will include but not be limited to the following:

  • Provide leadership and direction to the Packaging Team (8-12 employees), ensuring Packaging Technicians and Operators are appropriately trained on systems, processes, procedures, materials and machinery.
  • Drive and continually seek improvement in the overall packaging process, including employee safety, quality control, productivity and deliverables.
  • Ensure a safe, sanitary and organized work environment and proper functioning and operation of packaging equipment and by exercising due diligence, reporting any hazards to the Director of Operations.
  • Operate packaging equipment and execute packaging orders in line with company and industry standards and regulations; complete required documentation (e.g. packaging worksheets, equipment cleaning logbooks) accurately and in a timely fashion.
  • Ensure proper compliance with Health Canada and other regulatory requirements, Occupational Health & Safety Act regulations, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Instructions (WIs), Good Production Practices (GPP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and company policies.
  • Other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Completion of a relevant (electrical or mechanical) trade qualification
  • 3+ years of experience in a packaging supervisory or lead role within a manufacturing environment
  • OH&S and WHMIS
  • The position requires a flexible work schedule – you must be willing and able to work all shifts including evenings, weekends and holidays, as well as occasional stand-by shift availability.

Skill Requirements:

  • Solid leadership and supervisory skills, with proven ability to motivate employees
  • Strong attention to detail and eye for package quality
  • Physical aptitude and health necessary to perform manual labour tasks required for employment in a commercial scale indoor growing facility, including ability to lift 50lbs
  • Job requires manual dexterity, and the ability to sit, lift, bend, kneel, squat, reach and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work in moderate to loud noise level
  • Knowledge of GMP and GPP is an asset
  • Ability to act independently and as a team member
  • Attention to detail and accuracy including thorough monitoring and documentation skills
  • Adaptability and flexibility
  • Ability to prioritize activities and adjust priorities on short notice
  • Excellent comprehension, communication and interpersonal skills
