PAEDIATRIC HEPATOLOGIST

Effective April 1, 2024, the Department of Paediatrics at the Hospital for Sick Children, SickKids, 555 University Avenue, Toronto, Ontario is recruiting a full-time permanent faculty position as an Academic Clinician is available in the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition.
The Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (GHN) comprises 17 faculty who provide tertiary/quaternary-care clinical programs and maintain a high volume, high impact research output.
The successful candidate must have completed training in paediatric GHN certified by the RCPSC, or equivalent. They must have excellent clinical abilities in general GHN and have training and subspecialty expertise in paediatric hepatology and liver transplant. The successful candidate will have an excellent aptitude for successful performance of clinical research, and formal research training is preferred (e.g., MSc).
The successful candidate will be expected to provide clinical care, which will include contribution to one or more of the GHN in-patient services (GHN in-patients, liver transplant/hepatology in-patients, GHN consult service), providing hepatology and general GI out-patient clinics, providing GI endoscopic procedures, and participating in the on-call schedule, all within a tertiary/quaternary care environment. Ability to cover the liver transplant in-patient service is mandatory.
Academic responsibilities will include teaching and mentoring fellows within the GHN fellowship training program, and performance of clinical research. The SickKids Research Institute includes seven fully integrated research programs (http://www.sickkids.ca/Research/) and is in the state-of-the-art Peter Gilgan Centre for Research & Learning on the SickKids campus. Opportunities also exist for teaching in other programs and for clinical quality improvement work. Evidence of research and teaching is required.
All candidates must be able to function proficiently in English, hold an MD, MBBS or equivalent qualification and be certified or eligible for certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or have comparable qualifications. Candidates must hold or be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
The successful candidate must be eligible for an academic appointment at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor at the University of Toronto. Rank and salary ($235,00 0- $280,000) will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will be eligible for a benefits package which includes medical, dental, life insurance, long term disability insurance, group insurance, pension plan, vision care, and an academic allowance and a relocation package.
