Qualifications/Requirements:
- Education: A University law degree
- Admission to practice in the UK or an experienced paralegal
- Meaningful prior experience with contracts and knowledge of local pharmaceutical industry practices, applicable industry codes and relevant laws is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to establish and maintain strong and trust relationships across the business and within the Law Department;
- Ability to communicate clearly, verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work in cross functional teams and act as catalyst.
- Enthusiastic and positive attitude; problem’ solving skills/attitude
Responsibilities:
PURPOSE:
To join the UK and Ireland Legal Team to become an integral part of the BMS organization. The Paralegal for the UK&I is responsible for providing legal advice and support to the business units in the UK&I on regulatory, commercial and privacy issues, assessing and managing legal risk and reviewing local contracts and other transactional issues.
The Paralegal will work under the direction, guidance and supervision of the Head of Legal for the UK&I and will collaborate with legal and compliance colleagues in the UK&I and globally, supporting efficiency and consistency, sharing best practices and working collaborative to support the UK&I’s Mission and Goals.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND MAJOR DUTIES:
- Advise on Business Operations
- Support the day-to-day operations of business units and legal team in the UK&I, including commercial, medical affairs, market access, sales and marketing, finance and HR.
- Participate in all relevant activities and meetings in an effort to identify, evaluate and address legal issues in a strategic manner.
- Provide proactive legal advice in order to manage legal risk and help drive well-informed decision making.
- Review and revise contracts and other transactional documents.
- Prepare and review standard documentation (e.g. contract templates) based on global templates.
- Corporate Secretarial Work
- Manage all Corporate Secretarial work for the UK and Ireland legal entities.
- Support the Global Law Department
- Work collaboratively with colleagues from other practice groups, including Intellectual Property, Corporate Transactions, Research and Development, Employment, and Litigation.
- Contribute to seamless collaboration across the Global Law department with positive, solution oriented approach.
- Operate with Candor, Expertise, Transparency and Integrity
- Deliver pro-active, practical, solution-oriented advice that drives informed decision-making in support of commercialization strategy and execution.
- Build and maintain substantive expertise in areas of focus including the FCPA, local and other anti-bribery laws, local privacy law, advertising and promotion, pricing and reimbursement, contracts and competition law.
- Discuss issues in a professional, candid and transparent manner, building trust and confidence in all actions.
