YOUR ROLE

OGIP is a high functioning group of people who are responsible for ensuring DCJ’s compliance with the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 (GIPA Act), the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998 (PPIP Act), as well as complying with subpoenas and statutory orders relating to the provision of information. On the job training will be provided.
We offer flexible work practices in a very supportive environment. Attendance in our office at 6 Parramatta Square is required for in-office training, team meetings, and as otherwise required or directed in order to effectively carry out the role.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

The Paralegal will be responsible for providing legal, clerical, and administrative support, undertaking legal research, and making enquiries as directed by solicitors and other staff.
In addition, you will be responsible for deciding applications lodged with DCJ under the GIPA Act, handling applications for access to information under the PPIP Act, facilitating the production of material for subpoenas and statutory orders.

Vital to your success in the role is a high-level of written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage simultaneous issues and competing priorities.

  • Persons seeking to work in this role need to be compassionate and empathetic and have a high level of personal resilience. While training and support is provided, the role involves some exposure to graphic content, including references relating to violence, child abuse and sexual assault and/or homicide matters.
