Role: Paralegal

WHO WE ARE

You’ll be joining a national law firm that enjoys a strong reputation, made possible by our exceptional people – each chosen for their industry knowledge and passion for their field. We want to help you to reach your full potential, love the work you do and deliver the best results for your clients. It’s our goal to make you feel great about working with us, and we work hard to cultivate a culture that makes it easy for you to stay with us for many years.
We work flexibly and you’ll be empowered to work where you do your best work, balancing your individual needs with the need for us to engage as teams and deliver excellent client service.
Most of our people choose to work in a hybrid fashion, working from home and attending our offices on occasion. Our offices are in Bristol, Birmingham, Cardiff, London, Manchester, Southampton, and Taunton.

Responsibilities:

DAY TO DAY, YOU’LL BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE BY:

The work the team do is varied and will involve assisting with large scale secured lending and acquisitions/disposals, commercial landlord and tenant and estate management through to development and energy projects. Clients include housing associations, lenders, investors, developers and public sector organisations. This is a significant opportunity for someone to gain excellent experience.
You will work closely with the team on large scale projects, assisting with title due diligence and reporting, including collating and reviewing searches, enquiries, planning and title information and preparing Certificates of Title/reports on title. You will help manage online data rooms and liaise with brokers/title indemnity insurers and with third parties (local planning authorities, land registry, management companies) to obtain necessary information/documentation. You will also take responsibility for drafting and negotiating straightforward commercial lettings and property sales.
You will assist with post-completion work for our clients, such as making land registry applications, processing SDLT/LTT (stamp duty land tax/land transaction tax) returns, and updating/registering property titles.
You will also have the opportunity to get involved with ad hoc projects (small and large) as and when these arise, with the assistance of other members of the team.
It is an integral part of this role that you comply with data security and all firm policies and procedures

THIS ROLE IS RIGHT FOR YOU IF:

We are looking for someone with convincing aspirations for a career in commercial property law.
You will be able to demonstrate real potential, with the talent, ambition, and interest to succeed in a career within this field. As a law or GDL graduate, you will already have a good technical grounding in the law with a keen interest in land law and real property. You may also have completed the LPC.
We would prefer you to have at least 6 months’ experience as a paralegal, and if this experience is within the property sector this would be especially helpful. Whatever your experience, you will need to demonstrate high levels of attention to detail and effective communication skills to be considered.
The work requires self-motivation and the ability to work to demanding deadlines, so you will need to show us that you have initiative, drive, and great organisational skills. Experience in using MS Excel would be an advantage.
You will be a team player, relish helping others and be eager to learn. We expect you to be someone who takes pride in your work and who will provide a first-class support service to your fee earners, anticipating their needs in advance wherever possible, and paying meticulous attention to detail in all your work.
