Description:
Under general supervision, conducts legal assistance interviews with agency clients (i.e., internal and external) requesting specialized services in the development of acquisition or procurement documents related to goods and services; researches federal and state statutes, agency directives, policies, and procedures relative and applicable to the type and kind of request initiated; determines appropriate legal format, template, and structure necessary to meet client’s goals and objectives; inserts the required technical legal content into the preparation of a contract (e.g., fixed price; time and materials; cost-reimbursement) or agreement (e.g., grant; inter-agency; inter-branch); computes associated cost, commitments, or other compensation, payment schedules, terms of service, and delivery schedules; inserts methods of inspection and acceptance; creates a finished document for final review by staff attorney; drafts legal amendments and modifications to agreements and contracts to meet changing requirements or corrects existing legal arrangements; prepares necessary exhibits, attachments, and enclosures as necessary to complete the finished product.
- Responds to inquiries from public, other state departments, and Ohio Department of Children and Youth (ODCY)program staff; prepares written correspondence regarding termination letters, breach of contract letters, legal notices, legal reviews, public inquires, and reports.
- Performs other related duties as assigned (e.g., attends and participates in staff meetings and trainings; travels to attend meetings, conferences, and trainings; operates personal computer to produce correspondence, reports, and other documents; maintains logs, records, and files).

Qualifications
Successful completion of certification program for paralegal or legal assistant; 2 yrs. exp. in legal research & writing.
- Or 24 mos. law school training.
- Or 36 mos. exp. as Paralegal/Legal Assistant 1, 63810.
- Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
