Job Overview: We are looking for an experienced Paralegal to support our legal team in various aspects of legal practice. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in legal research, document preparation, and client communication. The successful candidate will work closely with our lawyers to ensure the smooth functioning of legal processes and contribute to the overall success of our firm.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Diploma or degree in Legal Studies or a related field.
- 3 to 5 years experience as a Paralegal in a law firm setting.
- Litigation paralegal experience
- Proficient in legal research, document drafting, and case management.
- Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with legal software and case management systems.
- Knowledge of Alberta legal procedures and regulations.
- Professional demeanour with a commitment to maintaining client confidentiality.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct legal research on case precedents, statutes, regulations, and other relevant legal information.
- Draft and prepare legal documents, including pleadings, affidavits, contracts, and other legal correspondence.
- Assist in the management of client files, ensuring accuracy and completeness of documentation.
- Coordinate and schedule meetings, court appearances, and other legal proceedings.
- Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and other parties involved in legal matters.
- Maintain and organize legal files, both in physical and electronic formats.
- Assist in trial preparation, including the compilation of trial notebooks and exhibits.
- Stay updated on changes in legislation and legal procedures relevant to the firm’s practice areas.
- Provide administrative support to lawyers as needed.
