Description:
We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Paralegal in Houston, Texas. The role involves a variety of tasks related to municipal utility district clients, preparation of documents for bond transactions, and assisting attorneys with research and document preparation. This role is based in a dynamic and fast-paced workplace within the legal industry.
Responsibilities:
- Attend meetings with the Board of Directors of municipal utility district clients and take detailed notes
- Draft and prepare necessary documentation for Board of Directors meetings, such as agendas, minutes, orders, and resolutions
- Engage with the Directors of the districts and the other consultants for the districts
- Assist attorneys in researching and preparing documents for various types of taxable and tax-exempt bond transactions
- Prepare documents for obtaining the approval for annexation of land to districts and administer the applications for such approval
- Maintain accurate record of all client billable hours on the firm’s tracking system in a timely manner
- Prepare and file resolutions, deeds, and annexation files with federal, state, and local governmental entities
- Assist attorneys in creating utility districts, including preparation of all necessary documents
- Coordinate the implementation of local elections for our utility district clients
- Prepare transcripts of public security transactions for submittal to the Texas Attorney General’s Office.
- Applicant must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in a paralegal role.
- Proficiency in Aderant software is a must.
- Knowledge of Adobe Acrobat is essential.
- Familiarity with the Automated City Register Information System (ACRIS) is required.
- Experience with Case Management Software is necessary.
- Applicant should have a working knowledge of CompuLaw.
- Experience with Billing Functions is a must.
- Briefing skills should be well-honed.
- Applicant should have excellent Calendar Management skills.
- Experience in Claim Administration is required.
- Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, are necessary.
