Your role
At Allens, our
Integrated Legal Solutions
(ILS) Team’s purpose is to deliver market leading and cost-effective data management, analysis and review solutions in support of Allens’ disputes, investigations and transaction matters and to clients directly.

You’ll be based in our Sydney office, managing and coordinating our Sydney and Brisbane Paralegal Services team of 50+ casual Paralegals who work within the ILS Team and provide assistance to all Practice Groups. Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Supervision of the day to day operation of paralegals including setting priorities, allocating and coordinating work of paralegals.
  • Monitoring and reporting on paralegal utilisation on a weekly basis, including in relation to paralegal working hours. Proactively raising any issues that arise with the Paralegal & Business Services National Manager.
  • Assisting the Paralegal & Business Services National Manager with implementing strategies to support the broader Paralegal Services team framework.
  • Leading or co-leading strategic initiatives.
  • Liaising with partners and lawyers to receive instructions on paralegal tasks required, instructing and providing guidance to paralegals to ensure specific needs of matters are met..
  • Ensuring paralegals are engaged in their roles, completing interesting work, and enjoying their time at the firm.
  • Developing the profile of the Paralegal Services Supervisor and the Paralegal Services team through business development endeavours, presentations, and internal communications.
  • Maintaining adequate paralegal staffing levels and assisting the Paralegal & Business Services National Manager and our Early Careers team with recruitment.
  • Maintaining adequate records of paralegal time recording and any performance issues.
  • Ensuring that paralegals are appropriately trained, are across best practice approaches and that work is delivered efficiently and cost effectively.

This is a permanent, full-time opportunity. This role generally requires you to be present in the office, however flexibility matters at Allens, so if you are seeking hybrid working or are looking for flexibility in your work, we would be happy to discuss what arrangements would work best for you.
About you

You will have:

  • Experience working as a paralegal and leading teams in a professional services environment
  • A passion for process improvement and creating positive career experiences for your team and others.
  • Legal technology experience, especially in litigation eDiscovery or corporate due diligence is highly desirable.
  • Excellent team management and organisational skills with the ability to prioritise work, demonstrate leadership with a group and juggle multiple priorities in a fast paced environment..
  • Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to build relationships with people at all levels of an organisation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate teams.
  • A desire to learn, grow, network, mentor others.
