THIS IS A HYBRID ROLE BASED IN OUR GLOUCESTER OFFICE, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE.

As part of Destination Sport Group (“DSG”), Mike Burton create and deliver major brand, customer and revenue focused ticketing and travel programmes around the globe, working in direct partnership with organisations that include the British & Irish Lions and England Rugby. https://mikeburton.com/
Due to exciting growth, we are looking for a new Paralegal to support DSG’s Managing Director of Legal & Technology and the legal team in providing general counsel support to The Mike Burton Group business and wider Destination Sport Group.

NO TWO DAYS ARE THE SAME IN THIS EXCITING ROLE BUT ON A TYPICAL DAY YOU WILL:

  • Support the Managing Director of Legal & Technology, in addition to working alongside a legal counsel, on all legal issues for the DSG Group
  • Draft, negotiate and prepare all necessary legal contracts and supporting documentation
  • Review commercial agreements independently and with supervision in accordance with internal policies
  • Provide general advice and support in respect of service procurement (including review and negotiating of vendor terms)
  • Assist with rights protection programmes including infringement identification and monitoring, conducting mystery shopping exercises and liaising with rights holders
  • Liaise with internal departments providing first line legal advice where appropriate
  • Comply with office/legal governance and administration processes
  • Provide administrative support to the Managing Director of Legal & Technology
  • Work positively and communicate professionally across the legal team in order to make an effective contribution to team tasks and team spirit
  • Assist the legal team with the collation of data and preparing standard reporting documents
  • Assist with the general development and evolution of the legal team, innovating and creating efficiencies in service delivery and identifying efficiencies across the business
  • Assist other teams within the business when required in order to ensure excellent customer service is delivered
  • Have the opportunity to travel both domestically & internationally to assist the operations team on major events

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE, OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL:

  • Be educated with a LLB Law degree and/or LPC (whether completed or currently studying), CILEX (completed or studying) with experience of working in a legal environment specifically negotiating and drafting a wide range of contracts directly with customers, suppliers and other parties
  • Have an understanding of general English law principals with specific contract / commercial / intellectual property law knowledge and experience in other relevant legal areas including travel, regulation, litigation and employment would be advantageous and/or experience working in the sports or leisure industry
  • Have experience of drafting and preparing documents to a high standard in terms of presentation and attention to detail is essential
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills and relationship management with excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential
  • Have the ability to work independently, with minimal supervision
  • Be a team player with a track record of building strong, effective working relationships
  • Be pragmatic with a commercial approach when providing advice to stakeholders
  • Be self-motivated and proactive, with a “can do” approach and a high level of attention to detail, initiative and persistence.
  • Have outstanding organisational skills with proven ability to manage time and prioritise tasks to deliver when working under pressure.
  • Have an excellent attitude and behaviours, including discipline and flexibility
  • Have excellent knowledge of Work, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Be willing to travel both domestically & internationally on an ad hoc basis to assist the operations team with major sporing events
