JOB SUMMARY:

The paraprofessional provides instructional support in a K-12th grade classroom of students with and without disabilities. The paraprofessional also leads the classroom in the event of a teacher absence.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience working in a K-12th grade classroom.
  • Prefer experience working with children with and without special needs in a multi-disciplinary education setting.
  • Experience working with instructional technology preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Implements lessons plan including instructional groups per teacher’s direction.
  • Assists in planning and developing/setting up instructional materials for classroom.
  • Assist in administering assessments/progress monitoring.
  • Works with the teacher in documenting academic progress through authentic observations and data collection.
  • Utilize and ensure consistent implementation of behavior techniques and classroom management techniques and data collection.
  • Perform teacher duties in his/her absence.
  • Keep up on best and promising practices for education (i.e., attending professional development, participating in book studies, etc.)
  • Provide caretaking/housekeeping duties as needed (i.e., changing of students, keeping classroom clean)
  • Maintain positive staff and parent interactions and communication.
  • Attend required trainings, meetings and events.
  • Ensure administration is informed of all parent and individual student concerns and complaints.
  • Ensure compliance with procedures, requirements and guidelines set forth by UCP, HIPAA, NAEYC, Department of Education, 4C, Department of Children and Families, and other State and Federal agencies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
