Description:
Jump Recruitment, on behalf of our client, Pardy’s Waste Management is seeking Heavy-Duty Mechanics (Journeyman) to join the teams at their various locations in Newfoundland and Labrador including Goose Bay, Pasadena, and Mount Pearl, NL.
The Journeyman Heavy-duty Mechanic is required to perform tasks in the mechanical repair and maintenance of gas and diesel engines and heavy-duty equipment. The Journeyman Mechanic will have the ability to train and guide the Apprentice Mechanic to troubleshoot major and minor mechanical problems, as well as repair/aid and adjust all necessary mechanical components. Work assignments will be received in the form of electronic work orders, but the employee is expected to determine the nature and extent of needed repairs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Background and/or education in Heavy Equipment Mechanics, Heavy Duty Equipment Technician or Truck and Transport Mechanics.
- 3+ years of direct work experience in Heavy-Duty or Heavy Equipment Mechanics, at Journeyman level of expertise.
- Experience with tankers and vacuum trucks is an asset.
- Experience in the wastewater and/or liquid waste industries or familiar with.

Responsibilities:
- Performing quality repairs and preventative maintenance services on heavy/medium trucks.
- Ensure repairs are carried out according to the manufacturers’ procedures and in a safe and responsible manner within the designated timeframe.
- Perform Provincial Motor Vehicle Inspections on heavy/medium trucks.
- Interpret work orders and technical manuals.
- Assist in fault diagnosis and troubleshooting mechanical and electrical failures.
- Comply with warranty procedures during repairs and warranty materials on completion of repairs.
- Ensure service documentation is completed as per instructions.
- Notify service staff of any additional repairs needed.
- Train and/or assist other technicians or apprentices with their work.
- Participate in any technical training or development training that is made available.
- Have a strong work ethic to produce quality work in a timely manner to meet the needs of the company.
- High degree of product and technical knowledge with a well-rounded understanding of highway transport vehicles.
- Can deal with large volumes of work and stressful situations.
- Assist the Yard Foreman with movement of equipment and upkeep in the maintenance shop.
- Have knowledge in Computer based maintenance programs.
