QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION

A graduate degree in Biology or related field and research experience directly related to the topic of the course. Preference will be given to candidates possessing a Ph.D. and/or previous university teaching experience in the subject of the course. SEASIDE 2025 BIOL 3633.03: Spatial Information and GIS in Ecology – Summer 2025
(2 – 0.5 positions)
The part-time academics will be responsible for teaching BIOL/ENVS/GEOG / MARI 3633.03, “Spatial Information and GIS in Ecology”. The course will be offered in the Summer session, June 19 – July 3, 2025, Monday through Sunday, approx. 0835-1625. Responsibilities include all aspects of teaching and administering the course, including lectures, labs, field trip planning, test preparation, and evaluation of tests and reports. Field trips in the class have included overnight camping trips. The part-time academic will also be responsible for preparing a budget in consultation with the program director and keeping related expenses within this budget; and evaluation of student work, including the project presentations. The part-time academic should expect to spend considerable time before and after the official course dates in preparation for the course and marking assignments. Due to operational requirements, the successful applicant is required to work in-person on campus, or out on field trips if appropriate. This position reports to the Chair of the department.
