Description:

JOB SUMMARY

The communications associate will work closely with FAPD’s communications generalist to keep more than 7,000 faculty members informed about professional development opportunities, upcoming events and more, while driving participation in the department’s programs and events.

Department-Specific Responsibilities

  • Creates and publishes (in partnership with the communications generalist) the FAPD newsletter, designing the newsletter in Salesforce and publishing it on time every 2 weeks.
  • Writes a feature story/blog article and 2-3 shorter articles per issue
  • Interviews subjects in preparation for writing blog articles
  • Collects article submissions from departments across the IU School of Medicine and editing for length, clarity and audience interests
  • Maintains an up-to-date list of upcoming professional-development programs to be included in each issue
  • Creates and maintains a content calendar
  • Coordinates content reviews to ensure all text and graphics are accurate and engaging and align with the office’s goals of promoting faculty vitality, organizational learning, wellness, engagement and inclusion
  • Edits content for style guide consistency, grammar, punctuation and flow
  • Creates graphics to support articles, as needed
  • Publishes blog posts
  • Manages data extensions (mailing lists) inside Salesforce to ensure all relevant audiences receive mailings
  • Supports the communications generalist with the creation of targeted emails.
  • Works closely with FAPD leaders to ensure accuracy of content
  • Writes content and designing supporting graphics
  • Schedules distribution
  • Responsible for promptly documenting accurate metrics about communications tactics they produce
  • Other duties as assigned
