Description:

The project is testing a community-based music training intervention for adults age 60 and over with and without mild cognitive impairment. The project involves strong collaborations with community-based organizations and professionals.
This is a part-time role at 50%. Therefore, the salary range for this position is 50% of $50,700 - $63,900 (Annual Rate). This role is fully onsite.

Under the supervision of the Project Manager, the incumbent will perform entry-level duties related to the support and coordination of research tasks and may receive training and development to prepare and advance for work at the next level within the series. Key responsibilities:

  • Completes project tasks independently and in collaboration with other staff members.
  • Administers surveys in a community-based study.
  • Assists with delivery, set up/breakdown of study equipment (keyboards, tablets) on weekly, ongoing basis when necessary.
  • Collects, enters, and quality-checks data.
  • Performs entry-level data analysis for weekly reports.
  • Assists with planning, set-up, and coordinating information or outreach sessions, distributes flyers, makes copies, assembles class materials, and assists with outreach activities.
  • Calls participants as instructed and needed.
  • Must be able to lift and pull 21-30 lbs.
  • Squatting, bending, and kneeling is required.

The incumbent will support staff and Principal Investigator (PI). In addition, they will work with the PI and Project Manager to support project goals, including administering questions in a community-based behavioral study and assisting with planning informational sessions. They will learn to summarize information and identify matters of significance and adhere to consistency of study protocol. They will also follow study policies and best practices and alert project manager if any issues arise, and perform other duties as assigned.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

The Institute for Health & Aging (IHA) is an organized research unit (ORU) at the University of California, San Francisco. The work of the Institute includes extensive and successful research, training and public service in the areas of aging, health, and health policy.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • Skills to learn organization-specific and other computer application programs.
  • Basic communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality.
  • Ability to use sound judgment in responding to issues and concerns.
  • Ability to establish excellent working relationships with community and team members.
  • Reliable, trustworthy, independent, empathic.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Valid Drivers license
  • Basic skills to analyze and research information and learn to synthesize data with strong attention to detail.
  • Experience with older adults (age 60 and older) in community settings.
  • Experience working in culturally diverse communities.
  • Experience with music.
