Description:
Overview:
Under the guidance of the Executive Director of Marketing, position is responsible for developing compelling and engaging brand-aligned content that celebrates the qualities of Blackhawk and meets our key audiences across a multi-channel content approach. Position will be based at our Central Campus in Janesville and will work on campus.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Excellent writing, editing, grammar, and English language skills to deliver high quality content.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Familiarity and adherence to Associated Press style.
- Project management skills to manage priorities and meet project deadlines.
- Photography, animation, and video editing skills.
- Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work with diverse populations and build culturally competent material.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Associate Degree in Marketing, Communications, English or comparable level of education and work experience.
- One year of writing and editing experience.

Responsibilities:
- Conceptualize, write, edit, and proof content for diverse array of college projects, while ensuring compliance with AP and internal style guidelines and branding standards. Content may include website copy, academic program descriptions, press releases, internal staff communications, fundraising communications, recruitment campaigns, magazine features, and advertisements.
- Support the development of creative campaigns, ensuring all content aligns with both project specifics and department goals.
- Meet with students, faculty, staff, and partners to develop content.
- Create and maintain a database of faculty and staff content experts that can be utilized for written content and/or media interviews.
- Collaborate with Executive Director of Marketing and Communications to coordinate incoming department projects.
- Develop and prepare marketing reports and metrics to measure success.
- Cross train with other marketing team members and provide back up to marketing team including crisis communication, website administration, print center, photo/video work, and shipping/receiving
