POSITION SUMMARY
Academic Part-time Position
Conestoga is a leader in polytechnic education, and fosters career-focused education, training, and applied research programs to prepare students for success, support industry and workforce needs, and promote economic prosperity throughout our region and across Ontario.
The School of Business is seeking a Part-time Curriculum Developer to create a new course entitled HRM72010: Equity, Diversity & Inclusion in the Workplace, part of the Bachelor of Human Resources Management degree program.
Course Description This course focuses on the key topics that impact the adoption of diversity, equity, and inclusion practices within the context of the new realities of the global workforce. Students will learn the theoretical perspectives on equity, diversity, inclusion, and how to lead across differences. Topics include: the global context for diversity management; social psychological perspectives of workplace diversity; the inclusive workplace model; managing a diverse workforce; discrimination, equality, and fairness in employment; global demographic trends, culture, and communication in the global workplace. We will relate leading research to personal experience, business cases, and press articles to develop a rich connection between theory and practice. A major emphasis of this course is the development of critical thinking, personal leadership, and teamwork skills.
The successful candidate will create, review, and revise course content for a 42-hour long course to be delivered in class. The course consists of up to 14 modules and must be developed for a 15-week delivery.
The primary tasks for course module creation are researching, writing, creating, and curating content to ensure an equivalent of three hours of teaching (lecture and activities) per week. Assessments will also need to be created based on course content. The Part-time Curriculum Developer will follow the guidelines and processes of Conestoga’s School of Business and receive course development and technical support throughout their work.
Successful candidates will meet the needs of the School of Business through a remote work schedule, and the successful candidate will be required to conduct work within Ontario. The project timeline is approximately six months between February and July 2025.
