Description:
Overview:
General Purpose: Will assist the delivery driver to deliver prepared food from the main kitchen to other Head Start Centers (Bellevue, East State Street, Smith Santiago, St. Bartholomew) and filling in as needed in the kitchens.
Schedule: 12 Months Per Year - 27.5 Hours per Week – 12 Month - 07:30AM – 01:30PM
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum of one year of experience in food service and one year experience working with preschool aged children. Culinary experience preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Have a valid driver’s license and be able to drive between Head Start/Early Head Start Centers.
- Ability to organize and manage time effectively.
- High energy, problem solving skills and a positive approach.
- Safely operate, clean, and maintain transport vehicles and equipment used in an institutional kitchen.
- Strict adherence to sanitation requirements in the handling, transporting and preparation of food.
- Use approved chemicals safely and according to directions on container for cleaning food areas.
- Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with children, parents, and other staff members.

Responsibilities:
- Monitoring and storing all food used in the Head Start program in a safe and sanitary manner, and cleaning and sanitizing preparation area, utensils, and equipment daily.
- Help the Kitchen Supervisor conduct a complete and accurate physical inventory of all food items on the last working day of each month.
- Assists the Kitchen Supervisor in receiving all food and kitchen supplies from external vendors.
- Maintain records of food and supply purchases, including how much is sent to each center.
- Appropriately packaging all food items for delivery to classrooms and follows directions for providing appropriate, specified quantities to children and adults.
- Ensure proper portion sizes are delivered to each classroom appropriate for infant, toddlers and preschool children.
- Work with kitchen staff to confirm food is prepared following classroom and individual menus.
- Maintain the work area in a clean, safe, and sanitary condition.
- Stores food in first-in, first-out order on shelves in accordance with the local health and sanitation requirements.
