Support needed during event operations in mid-2026 may result in a transition to Full-Time hours around this time. Longer hours may also be required at certain times.
SUMMARY
Seeking an energetic, proactive, collaborative, and resourceful HR and Employee Relations Support Specialist to join our growing event transport project team in Kansas City. Reporting to the Project HR/Workforce Lead and in their absence, the overall TMS Project Lead, this part-time, fixed-term position will support HR operations for a high-profile major event transport project scheduled through Q3/Q4 2026. The ideal candidate will be based in the Kansas City Metropolitan Area, possess strong networking skills, and be comfortable working independently to support employee needs and project initiatives.
The responsibilities are varied and wide-ranging.

- Residence: Currently live within the Kansas City Metropolitan Area, with strong knowledge of the local community and resources.
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain professional relationships.
- Technology: Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, Sharepoint). Bonus if you have experience with Airtable and/or other online collaboration tools.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Familiarity with employee relocation processes and Kansas City housing and community resources
- Previous experience in HR support roles for large-scale or major event projects
- Spanish language ability
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or 2+ years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Stakeholder Engagement: Schedule and coordinate meetings with potential business partners, local organizations, and other stakeholders relevant to the event project. Facilitate relationship-building efforts across the Kansas City area.
- Community and Networking: Build and maintain connections with local Kansas City entities to support project initiatives and foster a positive presence within the Kansas City community.
- Employee Relocation Support: Assist employees relocating to Kansas City for the project, providing information and support on housing options, local amenities, and community resources to ensure a smooth transition.
- HR Administrative Support: Provide day-to-day HR administrative assistance, including documentation, onboarding support, and maintaining employee records as needed to support project operations.
- Event-Specific HR Support: Assist with various HR initiatives related to the event project, such as organizing project-related events, coordinating training sessions, and supporting employee relations activities specific to the event timeline and requirements.
- Other Duties as Assigned: As we are planning for and operating in a dynamic, evolving event environment, other duties may be assigned and vary in nature. Thus, we require adaptability.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Keep open communication with the Project HR/Workforce Lead, Project Lead, and any other relevant team members.
- Support new employee orientation to foster positive attitude toward Company goals.
- Support management training in interviewing, hiring, terminations, promotions, performance review, safety, and sexual harassment put into place by TMS HR Corporate.
- Assist with the appropriate resolution of employee relations issues.
- Communicate policies, procedures, and programs and assist with any inquiries concerning them.
- Connect with outside suppliers to provide employee services, such as temporary employees, search firms, or relocation services as directed by the Project HR/Workforce Lead.
- Help to ensure employees are enjoying their work and work environment.
