POSITION SUMMARY:

Medical Laboratory Technologist work closely with all healthcare professions, providing accurate and timely results
ensuring patients have access to current best practices in health care. Technologists are responsible for performing a variety
of laboratory tests in all areas of the Core Lab, Chemistry, Hematology, and Transfusion Services.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Successful completion of a Medical Laboratory Technology Program
Registration with the College of Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Services (CSMLS)
Registration with College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO)

Responsibilities:

Working efficiently, cooperatively and expeditiously so that results are provided to physicians in a clinically
relevant time frame
Proficiently communicate with all members of the healthcare team
Effectively prioritize and utilize time
Competently perform phlebotomy
Maintain appropriate blood bank inventory and process blood bank specimens as needed
Perform remote verification as well as direction and support to MLAs
Ensure equipment and Quality Control measures are maintained
Precisely follow approved methods outline in the laboratory procedure manuals
Knowledgeable in the use and maintenance of the equipment used in performing laboratory testing
Adhere to standards set by Accreditation Canada and Listowel Wingham Hospitals Alliance
HOURS OF WORK: All laboratory shifts, weekends and statutory holidays.
