Description:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma and successful completion of medical program such as Medical Administration
  • Minimum 2 years medical administration experience
  • Excellent understanding and regular use of medical terminology
  • Experience with Practice Solutions EMR software an asset
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively in a team setting
  • Strong knowledge of general office procedures including multi-line phone system, fax machine and scanning equipment
  • Positive attitude, pleasant and professional manner in person and over the phone
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Exceptional organizational, time management and prioritization skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure and handle difficult situations in a calm manner
  • Must be able to handle work volume fluctuations; proactive, reliable and flexible

Responsibilities:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage a busy multi-line telephone system in a friendly and professional manner
  • Assist with clerical/administrative support to patients, families, staff and Physicians
  • Manage, schedule and maintain appointment calendars for multiple Physicians, AHP and Clinic Nurse
  • Independently respond to both verbal and written inquiries (EMR messages, faxes, emails)
  • Initiate and maintain confidential medical files and records
  • Performs document preparation, scanning and indexing of paper medical record documents into the EMR and audits results for image quality and indexing accuracy
  • Retrieves and downloads various lab reports from outside sources (CMH, LifeLabs, etc.) and enters the reports into patient records while messaging appropriate doctor
  • Ensures all forms are completed and properly identified prior to scanning
  • Other duties and tasks as required
